Water droplets bounce on the surface of water

At 2000 frames per second, this video shows a droplet of water bouncing on top of the surface of liquid that it touches. According to science, this happens because there is a very thin layer of air between the droplet and the surface of the water which gets pushed out as the weight of the droplet pushes downward. When the air between the droplet and the surface gets squeezed away, the water droplet pops and the resulting wave on the water pushes the droplet upwards causing it to bounce. This happens several times until the water droplet is small enough to be absorbed by the water. [via]

Ford develops a seatbelt airbag

Ford Motor Company unveiled a new development in automobile safety today by showing off their new seatbelt airbag system for backseat occupants. The seatbelt airbag inflates just as quickly as a normal airbag and is triggered when sensors in the car detect a crash.
Additionally, the new seatbelt airbag system, which will be included in the next-generation Ford Explorer SUV, is actually more comfortable and has smoother edges than traditional seatbelts.

This is the music video for “Blue Steel” by Bot’Ox. It shows a bunch of scenes of a car in slow-motion driving into inflatable pool toys, soft objects, and things that generally bounce when hit. Pretty cool.
