I’ve already posted a video of Ken Block’s Subaru TRAX STI vehicle and here are some photos of the snow beast courtesy of sub5zero. This thing is so insane.

Gizmodo has all 35 new Apple Snow Leopard desktop images for viewing. Apple actually includes several images of snow leopards in their next OS release along with some neat hi-res images of famous works of art.

Gizmodo’s gallery seems to be a bit wonky, so if you want to download the images in hi-res, you can do so here.

They Came From…

(int) Factor Films presents THEY CAME FROM… from factor films on Vimeo.

Factor-Films just released this teaser for a film they are working on called They Came From…

The film captures the spirits of several snowboarders on the mountaintops as they glide down the slopes with helicopters and cameras overhead. The helicopter shots are actually quite nice. Can’t wait to see more!

Snow diving fox catches a mouse

April 8, 2009 @ 1:18 pm

This BBC video shows a snow diving fox carefully listening to its prey under 6 feet of snow and then suddenly pouncing on it. Keep in mind that the snow fox does not actually see the mouse underneath the snow. It knows where it is simply by instinct and listening to its movements.

Man, I thought dogs and cats had good hearing…

Wow. How amazing is it that drivebysh00ter’s photo (posted to Flickr) is so much like Henri Cartier-Bresson’s famous “Behind Gare St. Lazare” photo? Definitely 2 great examples of the decisive moment here.

Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 driving in the snow

January 29, 2009 @ 9:15 pm

When I think of Lamborghini cars (of any model), I normally don’t associate them with being able to drive on snow very well. I think it’s because I know that speed and slippery road conditions are just about the worst combination you can put together. Normally the two end up either costing somebody their life or their car.

But that’s all old thinking apparently, because the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 is capable of driving in snowy conditions quite well. So what if the ESP in the car prevents you from going any faster than the regular guy’s car next to you? YOU’RE IN A LAMBORGHINI. Of course, that doesn’t mean you should take your Lamborghini out into the snow. You’ll still have to worry about rocks hidden under the snow and those pesky deer that seem to never get the fact that a car is something you should not jump in front of whenever you feel like it.
