If you haven’t heard already, Jay-Z’s latest album (to be released officially on 9/11) leaked yesterday and I’ve had the opportunity to listen to it earlier than expected. There’s one song so far on the album that really sticks out from the rest and I think it’s because it’s got a catchy hook and chorus. The song is “Empire State of Mind” and it’s more or less a song about how Jay-Z admires New York City and all that it has to offer. Think of it as a sort of NYC anthem that you can play in your headphones while you walk down any street in NYC and feel like you’re having the greatest day of your life.
There isn’t a music video for it, but I imagine a music video for this song showing Jay-Z walking in his old neighborhood with the sun shining brightly and him say hi and giving pounds to his friends along the way. That’s pretty much it. Maybe a car ride to another borough (or a Subway ride or something). But basically, just Jay-Z enjoying a stroll through NY.

I really like this song off of Calvin Harris’ new album Ready For The Weekend. It kind of makes me feel like driving a car down a long stretch of road during sunrise. A convertible is what I’m thinking, but I guess an old station wagon with chrome bumpers would do just as well. Maybe a friend in the passenger seat too.

In an obvious homage to the now-famous SNL skit, I’m On A Boat, Tanga is selling this T-shirt with the same phrase for just $5.99 (plus $1.99 shipping).
I’d buy this right now if that apostrophe wasn’t upside down. What’s up with that???
If you haven’t seen the SNL short, it’s embedded below.

To further promote his latest single and upcoming album (both of which have the same name), Calvin Harris teamed up with the Royal College of Art’s Industrial Design Engineering program whose students created the Bare Conductive skin-safe ink seen here.
If you’re skeptical of the video above actually being real, check out the making-of video below which shows how they set up this human synthesizer to work so flawlessly.
