Saturday was brutal around here as the Northeast was hit with a pretty severe thunderstorm which brought high winds and heavy rains. In Wantagh, NY, this huge tree fell over and crushed a car while countless other trees did the same thing and cut power to many homes.
LOOK. AT. THAT. TREE.
The wind wins.

I’ve been hearing all about the crazy weather Melbourne’s been having over the past week from friends but up until now, I didn’t really realize how bad it all was. Josh sends over this short video of a hail storm turning into an insane flash flood in Melbourne on March 6, 2010. I had no idea weather could change so drastically in such a short amount of time.

I linked to Tom Coates’ gallery of photos from Sydney’s recent dust storm earlier this week and totally missed the unsettling image of his Canon 5D covered in dust after he had shot with it all morning. That certainly can’t be fun to clean.

Do you see it? In the distance there is the Sydney Opera House, covered in the thick dust storm that I linked pictures of previously.

Tom Coates has put together this gallery of incredible dust storm photos from Sydney. The city was covered by an orange glow caused by a rare dust storm on the morning of September 23, 2009. There are still many photos going up on Flickr, but for now, you can check out this gallery.
