Manhattan Bridge sways with traffic

This time-lapse video shows the Manhattan Bridge swinging up and down as vehicular traffic and subway traffic go across it. I’ve been told that bridges are built to sway for safety reasons and that if they didn’t the bridge would crumble into the waters below in extreme weather. Neat, huh! [via]

According to Indicommons, today (July 7, 2009) is the 101st anniversary of the invention of sliced bread! The first company to produce a commercial sliced bread product was the Chillicothe Baking Company of Chillicothe, Missouri back on July 7, 1928.
So happy 101st anniversary sliced bread! You’ve been good to me!

This is seriously the best listening station on Pandora. I keep it on all day and it always turns any situation into an old-timey feeling one. I love it. Everything seems to be alright when I listen to this sort of music.
