This is interesting. Slate V remembers the 40th anniversary of the Moon landing by recreating what the event might have looked like on television if it had happened today. Notice how the actual event is smaller than the shots of the crowds and reporters — that’s a perfect example of how the news doesn’t show the news these days.
I’m not here to make friends (2009 edition)
July 7, 2009 @ 10:42 pm
fourfour has posted an updated version of reality TV’s stars saying “I’m not here to make friends” and it’s pretty much just more of the same ridiculousness that you saw last year. [via]
And if you missed it, here’s last year’s “I’m not here to make friends” supercut.
London to Brighton in 4 minutes
March 28, 2009 @ 11:09 am
This is archive footage of one of the programming interludes the BBC used back in the day between television shows. The space in between shows needed to be filled with some sort of content because when one show finished the next usuallly wasn’t ready to be shown yet (I’m assuming technology wasn’t like it is today in the early days of television). Anyway, I really love how there are so many tracks. I know that’s sort of a dumb thing to say since the video is about a train going from one station to the next, but seeing everything pass by so quickly makes it seem more interesting and mesmerizing.
YouTube television decals
March 6, 2009 @ 12:48 pm

Ignacio Pilotto has created these YouTube sticker decals to affix to the bottom right-hand corner of your television screens. In this day and age of online videos, this sticker should make you feel right at home when you’re watching the real tube instead of YouTube. Ignacio seems to have printed a lot of these, but I don’t see anywhere you can purchase them on his website. So for now, just a concept I guess. [via]

Justice – DVNO
March 2, 2008 @ 8:41 am
Here’s the new music video for the song “DVNO” by the French electronic band, Justice. I’m a big fan of what they do musically and visually, and this video is no exception. I love it!
Somebody correct me if I’m wrong here, but I think the video is made by SO-ME and Machine Molle. The video is so fresh at the moment that there’s very little information about it. Anybody who knows more is welcome to add on in the comments.
One More Disco points to the video below which shows some original television station out scenes, many of which were imitated in the Justice video.
