I watched an R5 of Terminator Salvation today (the rest of you will have to wait for the actual Terminator Salvation DVD) and I kind of forgot that Arnold Schwarzenegger appears as a CGI representation of himself. I’m still very impressed with how well they managed to pull that off. The only thing weird looking about the CGI version is the eyes. They don’t seem to be focusing on anything.
Spike has an article entitled The Seven Biggest Loopholes in Terminator Salvation that might make or break the latest Terminator movie for you. It’s no secret that watching a film like Terminator requires a certain level of suspension of disbelief, but Spike does raise several good points about some missing logic in Terminator-land.
Here’s a snippet from top loophole #2:
So as far as Skynet is concerned, here’s the future head of the resistance, snooping around headquarters without anyone or anything giving him much trouble. And then, BOOM, it’s the T-800 (CG Arnold) ready to tumble. But the real question is: why didn’t they sick the whole damn army on him?
Here you have John Connor, Skynet’s Most Wanted, and they send one Terminator to kill him in a factory of Terminators? They’ve been trying to kill this guy throughout time and space, and they finally have him right where they want him – and they send one Terminator? What, exactly, was the point of making all those other Terminators if they didn’t intend on using them at the key moment they might need a few? Talk about understaffing the war effort. Who’s running Skynet, anyway? Donald Rumsfeld? Fail!
I haven’t seen Terminator Salvation yet but I read the entire Spike article anyway. There weren’t really any spoilers and even after reading it all, I intend to go see the film. I love Terminator and nothing — even a bad movie — is going to phase me.
There’s a lot of expectation riding on this new Terminator film and judging by this 4-minute sneak peek, it looks like it’ll be quite good. If it isn’t, at least I’ll get to see the T-800 moving the way it should have in the original Terminator film. Mmm, cannot wait to see this!
Yahoo! Movies released a new trailer for Terminator Salvation today (March 2, 2009) and it definitely makes me want to watch the film. It makes me realize that Terminator is one of those films that’s coming out at just the right time when CGI and special effects are at their peak and can lend itself to making this film look as realistic and believable as possible.
Some people are arguing that the new trailer sort of ruins a “secret” about Sam Worthington’s character, Marcus Wright, but I disagree (you’ll see what I mean when you watch the trailer above). If anything, the new trailer does exactly what it’s supposed to — it makes me want to count down the days until May 21st when I can finally see this film in its entirety in theaters. Oh boy, is it going to be awesome.
GamePro has the world exclusive first-look at the Terminator Salvation game and movie in their upcoming March 2009 issue. The main article will give readers a sneak peak at the storyline of the film as well as screenshots from both the upcoming game and movie. In addition, GamePro will supply readers with a rundown of Terminator robot lineage — from the T-800 until whatever machines exist in Terminator Salvation.
If the cover is any indication, it looks like Terminator Salvation will have bigger, badder, and more intimidating looking machines. The more I see images from the movie the more I’m excited for it to get released. This is going to be a blockbuster for sure.
