Sorry that I haven’t posted much this weekend. It’s Thanksgiving weekend here in the States and I was busy eating and doing all sorts of stuff. But I thought I’d post a couple of pictures from my family’s Thanksgiving dinner just because it was served on this school-lunch sort of tray.
So yeah, it doesn’t look like much, but this 19-pound turkey filled us all up! There was stuffing, spinach, mashed potatoes, bread, and even Chinese box drinks! Oh yeah, that ham was there too but I only ate one piece of it.
So year, this is just one of many things that kept me busy this weekend. I hope your weekend was as fulfilling as mine!
So by now, you’ve probably watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, ate at least one larger-than-normal-meal, and are preparing portions for dinner that are definitely going to leave you with leftovers. In the midst of it all, I hope you had the opportunity to stop and rest and think about all of the things that you’re thankful for this past year.
This photo of a Thanksgiving turkey, taken between 1910 and 1915, is about to be somebody’s dinner! MMmmmmm!
Just a reminder that the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade begins today at 9AM EST at 77th Street and Central Park West. The parade continues downtown to Columbus Circle before turning onto Broadway and ending on 7th Avenue near the Macy’s Herald Square store location.
As I’ve mentioned previously before, Buzz Lightyear will make his first appearance this year as a giant balloon along with several other well-known movie characters like Horton the Elephant, Kermit the Frog, and Shrek. The Buzz Lightyear balloon above sure looks pretty awesome.
Normally on Thanksgiving, I try and make a list of things that I’m thankful for, but this year, I’m just going to link to a safety news report on YouTube that talks about the dangers of turkey deep-fryers.
If you’re cooking your Thanksgiving turkey this year in a deep-fryer, please make sure you are doing it with all of the necessary precautions (fire extinguisher, properly thawed turkey, outdoors and well-ventilated, etc.).
WHOO HOO! Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story will be making an appearance in this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade! The Buzz Lightyear balloon is said to be 67 feet long, 39 feet wide and 34 feet tall with a special clear material for his helmet that has never been used in the parade before.
Buzz Lightyear’s debut is in line to promote three new 3D Disney films based on the Toy Story franchise.
It’s been a while since I’ve been excited to see the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and now I’m really looking forward to seeing Buzz Lightyear take to the skies for real!
