Information Is Beautiful posted this rather confusing timeline of time travel in popular TV shows and movies. It was taken from the book The Visual Miscellaneum (Harper Collins) by David McCandless.

I find that this graphic is rather hard to read because of that stupid squiggly yellow year-line. This would have been much better if that line was just straight and everything else bounced around it. What the heck, right? That yellow squiggly line just screws everything over. This could have been so much more awesome. See the entire graphic here.

I like this Ford Mustang timeline that the Ford Motor Company has in hi-res on their Flickr account. In terms of visual appeal, it’s the old Mustangs and the new ones that look good to me. The ones in between are pretty bland.

Google launched two new services/features yesterday, one of which is Google News Timeline, a terrific new way to digest, read, and skim through news headlines.

The great thing about Google News Timeline is that it isn’t necessarily just for news. You can add your own queries (or feeds) into the mix and get a good gist of what’s happening around the web (as a whole or as a very narrow view). Head on over to Google News Timeline to give it a try.

McCarren Pool to open in 2 years

The Parks Department and Rogers Marvel Architects say that the current empty space at McCarren Pool will be outfitted with new pipes and filled with water in time for people to use the pool in 2 years. The pool is reportedly able to hold up to 2500 people at once. That’s…worse than a beach.

I’m gonna go ahead now and say that that 2 year projection looks insanely optimistic. Two years? Really? I know there isn’t that much work to do since they don’t really have to change a lot to the existing space, but I’d tack on an extra year to adjust for snags, delays, and mangerial red tape from all parties involved.
