If you haven’t heard already, Jay-Z’s latest album (to be released officially on 9/11) leaked yesterday and I’ve had the opportunity to listen to it earlier than expected. There’s one song so far on the album that really sticks out from the rest and I think it’s because it’s got a catchy hook and chorus. The song is “Empire State of Mind” and it’s more or less a song about how Jay-Z admires New York City and all that it has to offer. Think of it as a sort of NYC anthem that you can play in your headphones while you walk down any street in NYC and feel like you’re having the greatest day of your life.
There isn’t a music video for it, but I imagine a music video for this song showing Jay-Z walking in his old neighborhood with the sun shining brightly and him say hi and giving pounds to his friends along the way. That’s pretty much it. Maybe a car ride to another borough (or a Subway ride or something). But basically, just Jay-Z enjoying a stroll through NY.

This is what it looks like when you look down a line of train cars and see half of the line get totally pushed off the track by a tornado and the rest of whatever is on the track comes barreling down toward you. Wow, what a mess! [via]

This is one of the craziest set of photos I’ve ever come across! Two lucky guys had the opportunity to ride their bikes in an empty hydroelectric power station before it was filled with water. According to one of the riders, the surface of the power station is very smooth and the entire power station is huge! This is no doubt one of the most awesome pseudo-velodromes ever. Epic!
You have to see the rest of the pictures — they’re really impressive! I so wish I could have been there to do the same.
