If you use Tumblr you have 2 days to help decide the fate of a great animal debate: Who is greater? The cat or the shark? Right now, the sharks are greater, but if you’re a cat person you can help change that by tagging your posts with “cat” when you publish. Easy!

After following a loooooonnnnngggg list of re-blogs, I think I’ve finally found the place where this quote was first written. Said half-heartedly:
When I was 5 years old, my mom always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down “happy.” They told me I didn’t understand the assignment and I told them they didn’t understand life.
I hope my future 5-year-old will be just as bold. :)

I’m kind of falling in love with the simple idea behind Skyscrapers, a Tumblr blog that posts nothing but images of tall buildings and skyscrapers. And to make it even better, it’s one of the few Tumblr blogs I’ve come across that actually credits the photographer behind each photo. Good on ‘em! If only every Tumblr could follow such an excellent example.

Laura Brunow Miner (Space Miner) has a short and well-written suggestion for people posting on Tumblr to get it together and credit your sources for photos and quotes.
I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve found something very interesting on Tumblr only to have to jump through hoops just to find out who created the original artwork (photograph, image, or quote). It’s very annoying not just from a reader’s point of view but from an artist’s point of view as well because people’s work are often just taken out of context and posted without any recognition of the original artist.
I consider it common courtesy to link back to either the artist’s website or the page from where the artist originally posted their work and at the moment, Tumblr seems to be the largest single site that is guilty of doing neither. It’s always a long line of reblogs and reblogs and reblogs, with no one in the middle even bothering to stop and think about where that image or peice of artwork came from.
So get it together Tumblr. Take a look at the revised post mock-up that Laura created and integrate that into the Dashboard area. Pronto!

DOMONOMNOM is most definitely the best use of Tumblr I’ve ever seen. Every entry at the site is a single page that features Domo eating a random object. With a mouth as big as his, it seems like Domo was simply made to devour things and there’s no doubt that this is the best show of his eating abilities to date. Nice site too I must say. No wonder it was featured on Tumblr’s front page.
