Back in 1999 when the animated feature film, The Iron Giant, was released, a bunch of toy companies made figurines and toys available for purchase based on the characters in the movie. I was only about 14 years old at the time and most of my time was spent doing other more useful things than looking for The Iron Giant toys online (on top of that, I didn’t even have the purchasing power to buy my own toys anyway).
But now that I’m a bit older, I can freely look online for random crap and one of the things I like doing is doing a general search for “The Iron Giant” to see what goodies pop up for sale for real cheap. The item above, called the Ultimate Iron Giant, was a limited edition toy made by Trendmasters back in 1999 and is pretty much the essential collector’s item for any fan of the movie. The Ultimate Iron Giant is about 20″ tall and came with 3 “junk” pieces for it to munch on.
This item is no longer for sale, but if you look hard enough, you’ll find it in places like eBay for $220! I want this thing, but I know I don’t have money for it right now and I know somebody is willing to bid higher than me if I were to even get started on this auction.
But seriously, is that not cool or what? Imagine having a 20″ robot on your desk…
