House with an underground balcony

November 19, 2009 @ 8:09 pm

The very thought of a balcony makes me think of a place jutting out from a building several floors up. But in Japan, architect Yukiharu Suzuki has designed the Sukiya House, a very modern looking home with a unique underground tunnel that also serves as a balcony.

What We Do Is Secret has a bunch of more photos of this beautiful place. If I ever get to live on a mountainside, I’d want to incorporate this into my home design.

Wow, it’s photos like these that sort of make me miss riding the Subway in NYC and seeing all this crazy stuff that goes on below the streets. Grotesk saw this fairly large Cadillac Escalade power wheel toy on the platform at Union Square. The pictures really speak for themselves. Talk about blocking the entrance/exit…

Metro de Madrid commercial

February 15, 2008 @ 10:14 pm

This commercial for the Madrid Metro transportation system is by far one of the coolest ads I’ve ever seen! [via]

The commercial is made from the viewpoint of somebody who is underground and riding the Metro.

It’s directed by Gabe Ibañez of Peliculas Ponder. You can see a higher quality version of the ad above by going here.
