DC Shoes commissioned a custom motorbike to be built that used a series of shoes in place of standard dirt bike tires. It took six months to build, but it looks like DC Shoes actually got their wish, and they asked Travis Pastrana to test it out on a dirt track.

Watch the video below to see Travis do a couple of tricks with the shoe-bike and also destroy it by burning the rubber on the back tire. Nice!

Apple’s spinning wait cursor (also known as the spinning wheel of death) takes over this page on Chris Glass’ website. Scary. [via]

The Yike Bike

The Yike Bike, a new electric two-wheeled transportation unit was introduced to European audiences recently in hopes that it might spark some interest in a larger worldwide market. The bike is completely electric and runs for about 10km on a 30-minute charge. The bike features anti-skid brakes, built-in light indicators, and a top speed of 20kph.

I personally think riding an actual bicycle is better for your health and looks a lot cooler, but I won’t knock the Yike Bike because it does look like it has some fun bundled into its ultra-compact design. Check out the demonstration video below and the images after the video.

Dominic Hargreaves has created quite possibly the most remarkable folding bike ever. Most folding bikes on the market fold, sure, but they still aren’t quite as compact as I would like them to be. Dom’s bike however folds completely into the circumference of the wheels and leaves a nice little pull handle for you to drag the bike around.

And not surprisingly, the bicycle design has earned Dominic a chance at winning the James Dyson Award for innovation (which translates to lots of fame and a prize of over $14,000 USD.

I couldn’t help but notice that Greg Deese’s bicycle, which he shot for Urban1Cycle.com, contained a strategically placed Doobybrain sticker on the front wheel! Right on! Greg, if you need more stickers, just say so!

Cycling technology has advanced so well that it is now possible to create a wheel strong enough to support a person with only one spoke. This here is the LexCarbon Monospoke and according to FGB it costs approximately $1665 for one wheel.

I’d like to see this wheel in actual use on the street before I make any further remarks about it.
