White House Press Secretary takes ringing cellphone away from reporter

May 14, 2009 @ 1:04 pm

Engadget linked to this video above which shows cellphones going crazy at a White House press conference. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs actually takes a cellphone from reporter John Gizzi after he failed to put it on vibrate. To top it off, another reporter’s cellphone then rang and Gibbs threatened to take that away too only to have the reporter walk out of the room to take the call. Where’s the respect in this place? Haha.

This is how the Air Force One photo op should have been done

Scott, the president of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) has reportedly found out that the government spent about $360,000 to do that low fly-by photoshoot of Air Force One around the Statue of Liberty that freaked out people in Lower Manhattan and Jersey City.

Being the president of an association that uses one of the most well-known photo manipulation softwares available, Scott decided to see if he could shave down that hefty pricetag and deliver similar results. Turns out that Scott managed to get the large 747 in front of the Statue of Liberty only after about 2 minutes of fiddling in Photoshop. He used a stock photo of the Statue of Liberty from iStockPhoto.com and the official Air Force One file photo from The White House.

Together, Scott estimates that the job is equivalent to a $360 freezer for an orphanage in Kenya and he’d much rather the government spend that amount of money sensibly than fly the actual 747 very low over New York City. I undoubtedly agree.
