Land of the Lost coming to the big screen

May 20, 2009 @ 1:22 pm

If I had to pick one TV show that made me love dinosaurs as a kid, it was probably Land of the Lost. I honestly don’t remember much about the show itself, but I remember the intro (shown above) very well and all of the dinosaurs that were in it. A part of me always wished I could go back in time like the characters in the show and see dinosaurs up close and be their friends.

Anyway, apparently, Will Ferrell is starring in an upcoming film of the same name based on the original TV series. It’s supposed to come out in a couple of weeks (June 5, 2009) but so far I haven’t really seen any sort of advertising blitz for it.

Thanks for reminding me of this original intro though, Ray!

For those of you who missed Will Ferrell’s You’re Welcome America special on HBO this Saturday, you can download the torrent here and watch it at your own leisurely pace.

It’s not hysterical, but I won’t say that it’s not funny either. Think of it as a prolonged SNL skit with less censorship than usual. That’s essentially what it is. Still, it’s enjoyable, so I’d recommend that you watch it.

You’re Welcome America: A Final Night With George W. Bush

Will Ferrell is bringing back one of his most famous impersonations on Saturday Night Live tomorrow for one 90-minute HBO special called “You’re Welcome America: A Final Night With George W. Bush“.

The HBO special will be a version of Ferrell’s limited Broadway act by the same name which ends its run on Sunday, March 15, 2009. I’ll just be lazy for a second and let HBO describe the show:

In the special, Ferrell will inhabit one of his favorite political characters from Saturday Night Live, President George W. Bush, assuming the guises of several “Ws” through the years, including the “cowboy” Bush, the “flight suit” Bush, and the (plain old) “suit” Bush. Along the way, Ferrell-as-Bush provides insights into the Bush’s childhood, his time at Yale, his stint as a major-league baseball co-owner, his emergence as a political figure, and his cherished if checkered tenure in and (frequently) out of the White House.

Sounds good! I actually saw the commercial for it last week while watching TV but totally forgot about it until just now when I saw another commercial for it. Anyway, the show airs tomorrow, March 14, 2009, at 9PM EST on HBO. Tune in for a good time!
