I’m in love with this photo of the Chicago and Northwestern rail locomotive shop taken by Jack Delano. Look at the sparks coming from the guy working near the bottom left of the image. Nice! :)

Wow, good thing I held out on posting about this photo because BB just confirmed my suspicions about the caption that this photo came with when it was published over at The Big Picture.

When I first saw this photo, it jumped out at me because it was visually appealing but puzzling as well. The post it was included in was about the recession but something didn’t sit right with me when I saw this image in the set. My head was thinking “Nice photo, but this probably has nothing to do with the recession in its own context.”

Turns out, I was sort of right. These newspaper stands are collected here because San Francsico banned them a few years ago and are now just getting around to enforcing the law.

Look at the lighting in this picture! Fantastic!

The picture shows a Chicago and North Western Railway Company yard master in his office with a fellow man. The two of them are staring are something outside the window and the dramatic lighting on their faces really makes this photograph look like a Rembrandt painting!
