BackStory: Counter Culture: A History of Shopping

I've been really enjoying this podcast called BackStory about all sorts of weird and interesting things concerning American culture and history. This episode here is about shopping malls and shopping culture distinct to American society.

The early portion of the podcast mentions an interesting -- and very wrong -- assumption about why women shoplifted from stores in the early days of shopping malls. The term "kleptomania" was coined during this time and some were saying it was due to the fact that women couldn't control their urge to buy things during their menstrual cycles!

What a wild past we have, huh! Anyway, I highly recommend listening to this episode along with all the other episodes from this podcast.
