I'm starting a new series of posts here on Doobybrain simply called "Great Logos" (there will be a tag for it so you can click on that tag to view all those posts only in the future). Basically, I want to just highlight some great logos that I come across in my casual browsing of the internet (but I'm not ruling out any logos I encounter in real life of course). This tag is reserved solely for logo highlighting and not simply for news about new logos in general (although I'll probably write about that too occasionally).
Anyway, so here's the logo for the Food and Drug Administration of the US. I couldn't quite find any useful information on who designed this, but I do know that the FDA has basically used this same logo for at least several decades. No wonder, because this logo is perfect. It is highly visible in both color and black and white and incorporates that oddly familiar government brand look that is often held onto for far too long without an update. Please, somebody tell me they understand what I'm saying here. Isn't this a great logo though?
PS: Here's a sheet of the FDA logos and approved colors.
