IKEA's infamous POÄNG chair turns 40 this year and Curbed has posted this short video interview with its designer, Noboru Nakamura. The chair is still a design icon, but has sort of lately become a sort of throwaway dorm accessory (no thanks to some copycats out there!). However, if you've ever owned or sat in one, you'll know that behind that simple design is still a chair that is comfortable, functional, and pleasing to the eye. The original POÄNG chair has largely remained unchanged in its 40 years of existence but today you can buy variations of it through IKEA -- like the rocking chair version and a mini version just for kids (I mean, it's $30!)!
