I meant to write something about this on July 11 of this year, but I was so preoccupied with everything else going on in my life that it just completely flew by. And before I knew it, I had this scan sitting in my outbox just twiddling its thumbs, waiting for me to make it useful. So here it is, the boarding pass which I've come used in the past few years to visually mark one of the major milestones and transitions in my personal life.
Until recently, my life was more or less separated into these divisions:
1. Move to NYC from Florida
2. Living in Australia
3. NYC 2008-2012
4. Living in Los Angeles
5. NYC 2013-2016
The boarding pass above, obviously, marks the move to Los Angeles. It was a big step for me. It was the first time, honestly, where I was living on my own -- out of the house, no immediate family nearby to help me figure things out with. Plus, it was the culmination of many things I had hoped would line up in my life -- job, work, girlfriend, and of course the dream to live out on the West Coast. It seemed right most of the time, but not enough for me to make it a permanent thing. I came back to NY. This ticket though reminds me of how hopeful I was and excited I was to be doing this big thing in my life. Seems so silly now. It's a good reminder though that things don't always work out the way I hope. I keep this ticket to make sure I don't forget that.
