I was in Phoenix this past week and it was unbearable. The heat was intense. Imagine sitting in front of a space heater in the middle of summer and not being able to escape it. It follows you everywhere -- outdoors, indoors, even at the pool (pool waters were warm). It was just gross.
I was subject to airline cancellations due to the heat which I didn't even know were a thing until this past week. It turns out that the warm air is less dense which causes a ton of problems for airlines. WIRED explores this issue more and wonders if this might be a regular thing as the planet continues to heat up.
