Listen to this inspiring speech from Eddie Huang about immigrants and their importance to the American identity.
I'd be afraid to get into an argument with Eddie Huang. He is just so much smarter than your average person. I feel like it's easy to forget that sometimes especially when you box him into these niche cultures that he's invested himself into (VICE/Travel/News/Food/Streetwear). Not only is he smart, but he's incredibly articulate about his views too as you can see in this candid video above. If you didn't know that from his writing, well, now you get to see this former attorney at work dishing out the knowledge. So much respect for this guy.
This is just one part of a longer series of interviews Eddie Huang just gave on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. If you've ever doubted the brains behind Eddie Huang, this is your entry video to his genius right here. Sure, he's known as the brash chef and founder of Baohaus, but his knowledge of the world is really his true forte. Watch as he talks about how food is his gateway to cultures around the world and how he uses that as a means to talk about much more serious topics. If you've seen his shows in the past, you'll know he does this all the time -- bringing people together over meals and talking about current events or historical events in a very real way (with a little bit of humor stuck in between).
He's definitely got the best show on VICELAND right now. "Huang's World" premiers on April 28th!
