A story of the inevitable change that strikes a neighborhood when it becomes the creator of cool and everybody wants a piece.
The retro PDX carpet which has become sort of a weird calling card for ultra-hipsters is now being sold off at a 35% discount. The carpet gained notoriety a few years ago when Portland's PDX airport started ripping it up and replacing it with a new "modern" design. People then started printing the old carpet design on T-shirts, socks, and mugs and getting tattoos of it on their bodies. It's a nice looking carpet, I have to say, but a little overrated for its fame.
Still, if you want to own a piece of PDX history, you can buy real ripped up carpet from PDX (not a re-print or re-make) in small pieces. Everything is 35% off right now.
