I will never have luck like this man and the story of his stolen cellphone.
Remember Palm? Remember the Palm Pilot? Remember when Palm blew the mobile industry away with the launch of webOS? I do! I remember watching the press videos for webOS and being utterly amazed. If I had my Doobybrain archives, I could probably track down a point where I might have even written that I wanted a Palm Pre. That pebble-like device was just so enticing at the time and it's true, I remember webOS being absolutely revolutionary and cool.
But great software paired with crappy hardware will never live long.
Shane Smith from VICE met up with Edward Snowden in Moscow to talk about how on one could potentially be tracked by the NSA simply by carrying a cellphone in their pocket. The individual components in a cellphone like the microphone, camera, and even GPS can be turned on by clever hacks and really the only way to make sure that doesn't get Snowden in harm's way is to remove those components on a physical level inside the phone. This guy knows what he's doing.
Watching this video made me regret dropping piano as a kid. I mean, clearly I could have been this guy. Right?
