I think this is the 2nd trailer that I've seen for this film and I still don't quite know what it's about. All is well though because I'm already hooked! That special California sunset and those iconic LA destinations are enough to make me want to buy opening day tickets for this come December. Who's coming with me?
Girl Asleep
Well, Girl Asleep just shot to the top of my must-see movie list. This Australian comedy follows the coming-of-age story of a young 15-year-old girl who is thrown a surprise birthday party and falls into a parallel world of absurdity and hijinks. It's beautifully shot (at least from what I can tell from the trailer here) and it has all the markings of a truly weird and unique film. I can't wait to see this. It comes out in early September in select theaters and direct download.
Why The Dark Knight's Joker is the ultimate movie antagonist
Damn. I already thought The Dark Knight was pretty good, but now this video from Lessons From The Screenplay leaves me 100000000% sure that it's not only written well but directed superbly as well. The Joker is freaky and no doubt one of the best on-screen villains of all time. I completely agree!
Tally-Ho Black Diamond Edition by Jackson Robinson
So how about these Black Diamond Edition Tally-Ho playing cards that finally came in? Don't they look great? They were delayed a lot but I'm glad they turned out so amazing. The shiny silver backs really bring these to the top of the custom cards list.
Digg's Trump And Hillary Channels
This is an interesting experiment. Digg has just launched dedicated channels for streaming information on Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. The channels are a mix of algorithmic curation by computers and Digg editors and are sort of like a running list of what the web is talking about concerning the two party candidates for President at any given moment. As an actual information source, it's probably very diluted, but as a stream of consciousness feed, it is quite amazing.
Digg has done its best to make sure that both feeds are populated by information from all political sides (left, right, and moderate) and include Twitter reactions from tweets that have garnered over 1000 retweets.
You can have a look at the feeds here:
Restoring a Radio Shack Armatron
I have a faint memory as a child of playing with the Radio Shack Armatron. I don't know the story of how my family came to own one of these, but my guess is that my dad (who liked gadgets as a young man) splurged on this for himself and eventually just let us play with it until it broke.
