I have the 2015 version of this book and I figured 4 years is a good enough time to get an updated version with all the changes made in recent years. The 2019 Tracks of the New York City Subway will begin shipping in December (of this year) and you can order your copy now. This publication is still the king of all track layouts of the entire NYC transit system (including abandoned stations).
The Vigilante Group Of New Yorkers Who Hunt Rats At Night
This is the weirdest urban sport in all of NYC.
The World Before Your Feet - Official Trailer
Last year I read the book The New York Nobody Knows by William Helmreich and it inspired me more than anything in recent past to go out and explore every little corner of NYC. Helmreich has gone on to write dedicated books about walking every block in Manhattan and Brooklyn and now there seems to be another man in NY doing virtually the same thing as Helmreich.
In a new film called The World Before Your Feet, Matt Green is filmed walking virtually every block in NYC.
This sounds like an amazing film. Itβs currently showing at Quad Cinemas.
It Will Soon Cost $5.80 Just To Set Foot In A NYC Yellow Cab : Gothamist →
Wow. Ok, this will kill the yellow cab industry. :(
Subway Tour: Culver Line Part II
I just learned in the video above that there used to be a railway that ran on Shell Road as you go towards Coney Island. Today, Shell Road is a vehicular road but there are some amazing photos of this partially paved-over railway over on this website.
And of course, hereβs more info from Forgotten New York. I pass this place all the time and I had no idea!
