A wonderful dissection from Nerdwriter of Edward Hopper's Nighthawks painting done in 1942. I never really thought of the cultural time that this image is placed in and I get, at least in part, why the rest of this city (presumed to be NYC) is shadowed in darkness.
PS: I want to go back to Chicago.
